Family Of South Side Murder-Suicide Victim Speaks Out
The family of a woman who apparently died in a murder-suicide were in disbelief at what happened.
Officers responded to the scene at 3118 Huntington Drive around 4:30 p.m. Dispatchers told 10TV News that the assault resulted from a domestic violence situation.
When police arrived, they found one person dead. A second person was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
Investigators told 10TV News that Anthony Eric Morgan barged into the house and shot his estranged wife, Kathy McCoy, 47, in the kitchen. Morgan then sat on the couch and shot himself according to police.
McCoy’s nephew, William Johnson, wanted to know why things went that far. “What could have led it to happen?”
“She'd do anything for you. She's a happy grandmother, a happy mom. She was happy with life 45,” said Petria Parker, McCoy’s sister.
The family told 10TV McCoy and Morgan were a private couple with the usual marital arguments, but said they never would have expected something so tragic from within.
The couple had been separated and in the process of getting a divorce.
