Family Pleads For Father's Shooter To Come Forward
Columbus Police continue to guard the scene Thursday night where a father of two was murdered the night before.
"If you're down, he would always be able to find some type of way to lift you up with his smile, a comical joke." said Renisha Ivery, the victim's sister.
Renisha said their smiles turned to sadness after learning her brother Reggie Ivery, 33, was shot to death on East 26th Avenue.
"This is not right. They have to take his life." Renisha told 10TV's Jason Frazer.
Columbus Police tell 10TV they received multiple calls from neighbors who heard gunshots Wednesday night. When investigators arrived, they found Reggie shot multiple times. Investigators said Reggie died at the scene.
"That's hard to explain to a child. Where is my dad?" said Waltanette Johnson, the victim's sister-in-law.
On Thursday night, family and friends briefly gathered in front of the home where Reggie was found. Some cried while others comforted each other with hugs to help with what they describe as a roller coaster of emotions. "It goes up and it goes down. and when I think about him, i know he's in a better place," said Renisha.
"We don't want these people to think they can get away with this," says Marlow Ivery, the victim's brother.
Police have not made any arrests in the case.
