Columbus police investigators said one person was killed in a shooting that happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday inside Club Vission on Eastland Square Drive.

Officers said when they arrived they found Lennell Walton, 34, shot once in his upper body inside the club.

He was rushed to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said Richard Bouyer, 28, was arrested at the club and booked on a murder charge.

Walton's family told 10TV he was a funny, good guy.

They said he was a father of six who liked to do things with his kids and was mourning the recent loss of one of his sons.

His family asked that people put down their guns because lives are at stake.

"There's no future in it. They're killing each other. Why kill another human being behind something not worth anything and spend the rest of your life in jail," said his mother, Essie Walton.

His mother and sisters said they believe the gunman came after Walton because of an altercation weeks ago.

Police have not yet confirmed a motive for the shooting, but said it happened inside the club.

Bouyer is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday morning in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Columbus Police said this is the city's 54th homicide this year.
