Family Calls 911 After Man Allegedly Fired Shots, Killed Dog With AK47

The Athens County Sheriff said that a man with a gun barricaded himself inside of a home with his brother and sister on Friday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, a family member of the man called 911 about his 44-year-old relative, who fired shots and shot and killed his dog with an AK47 inside of a home on East Kasler Creek.

A brother and sister of the alleged shooter were inside of the home with the man with the gun, sheriff's officials said.

The sheriff's Special Response Team was activated, and an officer communicated with the brother of the alleged shooter.

The sister of the man was allowed to leave the home, and when she did, she told authorities that her brother with the weapon was standing at the kitchen window with his finger on the trigger of the gun, according to a release
from the sheriff's office.

The man eventually surrendered without incident, sheriff's officials said. No arrests were made.

The names of those involved were not immediately released.
