Families Forced Outside In Middle Of The Night During Standoff

Several families were forced out of their homes early Monday morning during a S.W.A.T. standoff.

This happened at north Cassady Avenue and east 12th Avenue in northeast Columbus.

Police said the suspect called officers several times, claiming he had a bomb in the basement and threatened to blow up the neighborhood.

Authorities surrounded the home around 2:30 a.m., and the suspect stopped communicating with them.

Around 4:30 a.m., authorities got a key and entered the home.

They confirmed that the man did not have a bomb, and no other weapons were found inside the home.

The man was arrested. Police did not release his name.
