Families Awake To Gunfire In East Columbus

Police took four people into custody after a report of shots fired in east Columbus.

Families heard the gunshots near 1794 E. Rich Street just before 3 a.m. Thursday.

No one was hurt, but several cars and homes were damaged.

Officers found three guns thrown from a silver Chevy Cobalt that was seen leaving the scene and running traffic lights.

Police stopped that car on E. Main Street and took the four people to police headquarters for questioning.

Their hands were tested for gunpowder residue.

Police did not identify the four people who were detained, pending the filing of any charges.
