A former Hebron and Union Township police officer entered a change of plea in court on Wednesday in connection with having a 10-year sexual relationship with a minor.

George Gibson previously had pleaded not guilty to two counts of corruption of a minor, one count of gross sexual imposition, one count of rape, five counts of sexual battery and one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

According to The Newark Advocate, on Wednesday, Gibson entered a guilty Alford plea to four counts of sexual battery. The Alford pleas allow him to maintain his innocence on some of the counts.

The Advocate reported that Gibson acknowledged the sexual activity with the minor after she turned 16.

Gibson, 43, was accused of conceiving a child with a girl when she was 15. Investigators said that the alleged relationship began in 1993 when the girl was 8 years old.

Gibson allegedly knew the girl because dated her mother, Hartman reported.

The two have a 10-year-old, a 7-year-old and a 19-month-old together.

Health police said that they were contacted in May 2011 after a child support enforcement proceeding, when both Gibson and the alleged victim filed for sole custody of the children.
