A former Columbus police officer is expected to plead guilty in January to one count of coercion and enticement of a minor for sexual activity.

The Columbus Dispatch reported Thursday that Todd Smith, 49, of Westerville has reportedly reached a plea agreement.

Smith had been accused of coercing two 15-year-old girls for sex as well as sexting with the girls, who were students at Centennial High School.

One of the girls told FBI agents that Smith tried to have sex with her in his school office while a school play was going on in the auditorium. The girl said she performed oral sex on Smith. The girls also texted topless images of themselves to Smith.

Smith was the resource officer assigned at the school since 1986.

He was arrested in July when he allegedly attempted to meet one of the teens near her home at 2 a.m. Smith was under surveillance at the time.
