Embracing New Year's Resolution With Hundreds of Hugs
Gregg Dodd is starting 2013 the same way he ended last year.
He’s giving hugs.
“A year ago today, I decided, let’s do something fun and see if I can really do this,” said Dodd.
Dodd set out on his New Year's resolution.
“So I had 366 days, a whole extra day and I set out to have at least one hug a day,” said Dodd.
Gregg used a now-tattered pocket calendar to help him keep track of his embraces.
He said it started slow.
“There have been times when I'm sitting on the couch at 10 o'clock at night, you know, ready to head to bed, and I'm thinking to myself, did I hug someone today?” he said.
He took to social media with postings on Facebook.
That's when he says his holiday hug grew into something of a local treasure.
“I've had people yell across, ‘Hey I want one of your hugs,’” said Dodd.
No matter where he goes, he's greeted with smiles.
His hugs include the mayor, governor, and the president of Ohio State, Dr. Gordon Gee.
Dodd may be turning the page to the New Year and a new resolution, but he said his hug will remain.
“2012 is in the books, and I'm going to hold on to this for a very long time,” said Dodd.
