Dublin Police Use Tweets To Inform Community
Dublin police have turned to social media to keep the community informed.
When emergency calls come in, tweets go out on Twitter to the department's followers.
Police said that tweeting helps them cut down on the number of non-emergency calls from residents looking for information about traffic back-ups and similar incidents.
"Whether you're a resident of our community, work in our community, you travel through our community, you can, at your choice, subscribe to that bulletin board called Twitter and receive our information," said Jay Somerville, Director of Technical Services for the Dublin Police Department.
