A 56-yr-old Dublin resident was killed on Saturday following an accident with a vehicle.

Police say Joseph Giampapa was taking part in a 200-mile bike ride with the Ohio Randonneurs bike club when he was struck by a minivan and killed in Troy.  The crash occurred on the 6000-block of Troy Sidney Road in Miami County.  The bicyclist was unresponsive and lying face-down in a driveway when authorities arrived.  Police say Giampapa was thrown some 150 feet after he was hit.

Giampapa was thought to be riding alone while on his return trip from the 200-mile bike ride when the crash occurred.

There was no suspicion of drug use or alcohol consumption by the bicyclist or the driver of the van that struck Giampapa.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
