The Ohio State Parks department is closing the dog park at Alum Creek State Park until further notice.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources said Thursday night, an anonymous caller said a stray dog she brought to the park has been diagnosed with the canine Parvo virus, a potentially fatal disease in dogs that are not vaccinated.

The ODNR said puppies that have not received all of their shots are also at risk.

The ODNR said the Ohio State Veterinarian has been contacted and will be on-site Friday to assist with proper cleanup of the park area.

Officials are urging anyone who visited the dog park within the last week to contact their veterinarian with any concerns.
