The Pickaway County Sheriff said two people were murdered and a suspect killed himself late Saturday night in Orient.

According to investigators, the two residents were apparently killed during a robbery around 10 p.m. in the 5300 block of Fairfield Road, off of state Route 762.

A 911 call was made from a residence stating a man had a gun, but the caller was cut off. When dispatchers returned the call, someone on the other end of the line said everything was fine at the home.

Deputies were sent to the residence anyways per protocol, and a man was spotted leaving the home carrying an armful of weapons.

When the person was told to stop, deputies said he turned a gun on himself. Authorities identified the suspect as Michael Melrose.

One man was found bound and shot in the home. He died while being transported to the hospital, according to the sheriff.

A woman was found deceased in a back room of the home. She had been shot multiple times and was partially bound.

According to investigators, the suspect and victims knew each other. They said that the suspect had done odd jobs for the couple in the past.
