Deputies Believe Report Of Hostage Situation Was An Apparent Prank

The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office said a call about a hostage situation Sunday morning turned out to be an apparent prank.

Deputies and SWAT units surrounded a home near Millersport around 10:20 a.m. to investigate the report of a bomb threat and hostage situation.

Deputies said the caller stated he was holding three children and a woman hostage at a residence in the area of Blacklick Road Northeast and Cherry Lane.

Authorities entered the home but didn't find anything.

The sheriff's office said detectives have a possible suspect who made the false report, but no arrests have been made yet.

The investigation is ongoing.
