Delaware Village To Receive Nearly $2 Million Loan For New Fire Station
A Delaware County fire department will receive a nearly $2 million loan to build a new fire station.
U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown announced the Elm Valley Joint Fire District in Ashley will receive a $1.7 million federal loan to build the station.
The chairman said the new station will be roughly four times bigger than the current one.
The chairman of the Elm Valley Joint Fire District Bob Davis said the current station was built in the 1950s and no longer fits the department’s needs.
“It’s crowded, it’s outdated,” Davis said. “We can’t get all the equipment inside and we are trying to plan ahead for the next 50 years and this station will hopefully more than do that.”
Davis said the new station will be built on U.S. Route 42, just north of the village.
The fire district services the village of Ashley and three neighboring townships.
