Delaware County Sheriff Walter Davis and a female deputy with whom he allegedly had a rendezvous on the county dime have not been at the Sheriff’s Office for the past two days, 10 Investigates’ Paul Aker reported Friday.

Davis spent most of Friday consulting with an attorney, and the deputy called in sick and did not answer the door for 10 Investigates.

Davis is accused of using county money to help pay for a rendezvous with Deputy Janine Senanayake.

A 10 Investigates’ investigation found the sheriff and his deputy showing up at a Westerville condo that neither owned during off-duty hours.

The relationship raised questions after Davis’ allegedly used county money during a stay at a Virginia hotel. Receipts showed that the deputy was staying at the same hotel, Aker reported.

The Delaware County Republican Central Committee Thursday night voted to rescind its endorsement of Davis in the November election.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation currently is investigating the allegations.
