A Danville police officer is back on the job after being hit by a suspect during a car chase last month.

Chad Lishness has been recovering since May 19, when a driver hit him with a car, throwing him 60 feet in the air.

The driver was 18-year-old Joshua Baldridge, who faces multiple charges that include attempted murder and felony assault on a police officer after hitting Lishness and crashing into another car, according to police.

Lishness was struck when he was attempting to putdown spike strips to stop the car Baldridge was driving.

The police department gives credit to bullet proof vest he was wearing for absorbing the impact of the car.
