Couple Charged In Infant Daughter’s Death Surrender To Authorities

A couple wanted for the death of their 16-month-old daughter have turned themselves over the sheriff’s deputies.

Greta Sahatciu, 23, and Michael Wilder, 29, surrendered Tuesday night at 10 p.m.

The two were wanted in connection with the death of Maiya Wilder. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said that the baby died after being left unattended for nearly 10 hours in a bedroom with a space heater turned on.

Wilder took Wilder to Doctor’s West Hospital and she was transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she died two days later.

The parents told investigators they had left her alone for 10 hours while they took sleeping pills and slept in another room, according to authorities.

Sahatciu is charged with felony Endangering Children. Wilder is charged with felony Endangering Children and Involuntary Manslaughter.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said they are being held at the Franklin County Jail.
