Just imagine a place where the young and the young at heart can enjoy outdoor and indoor fun … in spite of their physical and developmental disabilities and health concerns.  That place is the Recreation Unlimited Camp.   Since 1958, Recreation Unlimited has provided programs in sports, recreation and education for individuals with disabilities and health issues.   These programs are designed to build self-confidence, self-esteem, and positive attitudes.

Located on 195 acres in Ashley, Ohio, just 35 minutes northeast of Columbus, this year-round campus features a 20-thousand square foot Life Center, three major residence halls, a dining hall, an aquatics center, and much, much more.  Among the outdoor features:  a soft-ball field, four miles of accessible trails, a seven-acre lake, and a natural amphitheater.

Recreation Unlimited serves more than 7500 individuals each year.  Among its programs:  Summer Residential, Winter Residential, Year Round Respite Weekend, and Specialty Week Long and Weekend camps.  It is one of the largest providers in the state of Ohio serving individuals with disabilities and health concerns in the area of sports, recreation and education with the most comprehensive and quality program offerings.

The organization has 12 full-time associates and, during peak camp periods, hires up to an additional 125 seasonal workers.

Recreation Unlimited camp programs serve individuals from 52 Ohio counties and five surrounding states.  For those campers, Recreation Unlimited is a magical place, where dreams come true, no one has a disability, and all are equal.  As one camper put it, “Coming to camp feels like the greatest moment of my life.”

Recreation Unlimited is a 501-c-3 not-for profit and relies largely on the generosity of many dedicated benefactors.
