Columbus Police Reviewing Security For Red, White And Boom Following Boston Marathon Bombings

The Red, White and Boom event is just a month away, and Columbus police are re-examining security following the Boston Marathon bombings.

An estimated half million people are expected to be downtown on July 3 to celebrate our country’s independence, and extra security measures are being provided to keep them safe.

That includes providing additional officers and firefighters, as well as using crime cameras and observation towers.

Police are asking people who are planning to be downtown on July 3 to pack light, mark their belongings, and use clear or mesh bags if they have them.

They also remind residents that if you see something, they want you to report it.
