A Columbus Police officer remained behind bars Tuesday, charged with domestic violence, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.

Officer Richard Evans, a 17-year member of the Columbus Division of Police, was relieved of his duties several weeks ago, after his ex-wife filed a civil protection order against him.

On Monday night, Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Evans on charges including violation of a protection order, menacing by stalking and domestic violence.

Evans' ex-wife is also a police officer, Landers reported.

If Evans is convicted of domestic violence, he could lose his badge. He was being held in the Delaware County Jail.
