Columbus Division Of Fire Welcomes 40 New Recruits
Forty new firefighters stood before city officials Monday to become the newest firefighters for the city of Columbus.
It is the 101st class the join the Columbus Division of Fire.
“This is an exciting time,” Chief Gregory A. Paxton said. “We are constantly evolving as a Division. We must continue to extend our knowledge base and transfer those skills to the next generation of firefighters and paramedics.”
Following the orientation, staff unveiled a new fire simulation tool. It will be used to reinforce search and rescue, hose deployment, movement and disorientation techniques.
There are currently 1,520 firefighters working for the city of Columbus.
