Columbus To Add 33 New Neighborhood Safety Cameras
The City of Columbus plans to install 33 new neighborhood cameras this week.
The new cameras, which are designed to deter crime and have aided in officers solving crimes, will be installed in the following areas:
- West Broad and South Terrace
- West Broad and Wayne
- West Broad and Wheatland
- Cleveland and 13th
- Cleveland and 23rd
- E Main and Lilley
- Whittier and Oakwood
- Anne Street (Forest to Columbus)
- Lockbourne and Smith
- Whittier and Wilson
- Bulen and Livingston
Last year, the city installed 111 cameras in five neighborhoods – Hilltop, Mount Vernon, South Linden, Weinland Park and Livingston Avenues.
Columbus officials said that four of the five neighborhoods saw a decrease in crimes.
The locations for the cameras are selected by crime data.
