A quiet but cold night is in the forecast under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will drop off into the middle to upper teens overnight. Clouds will move back in early New Year’s Eve with light snow developing after 3 p.m. The light snow will continue into New Year’s Eve night with snowfall accumulations of around 1 inch or less possible. Snow showers will linger into the morning of New Year’s Day before tapering off to flurries during the afternoon. Another half-inch accumulation is possible on Tuesday.
Clouds will slowly move out Tuesday night as even colder air moves in. Temperatures will drop back into the lower teens by Wednesday morning with lows in the single digits likely by the end of the week. Highs will stay in the lower to middle 20’s. Sunshine will return Wednesday with a few flurries possible Thursday. Relatively quiet weather with a slow warming trend is expected by next weekend.
