City Purchases New Armored SWAT Vehicle
Columbus City Council approved spending $208,172 to purchase a new SWAT team truck.
The armored vehicle can be used to carry personnel to dangerous situations when the SWAT team is needed.
The Ballistic Engineered Armored Response Counter Attack Truck is also called a BearCat.
Columbus police already have one BearCat.
The second one will allow them to better respond to multiple emergencies.
A grant from the Department of Homeland Security will help pay for the truck.
