Police believe a man used the internet to lure a child to a Mount Vernon motel room to sexually assault her.

Bryan A. Stewart, 36 of Cincinnati, was indicted on charges of importuning, rape, gross sexual imposition, pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and tampering with evidence.

Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher said Mount Vernon Police officers arrested Stewart in a Super 8 motel room where he was allegedly found with a 12 year old female on January 16.

Thatcher said the girl accused Stewart of engaging in sexual conduct with her.

Further investigation determined that Stewart allegedly exchanged text messages with the girl to arrange a meeting at the motel for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.

Investigators also accused Stewart of deleting video from a camera they found on him so detectives would not be able to use it in the case.

Stewart is being held in the Knox County jail on a quarter million dollars bond and will be arraigned on February 14th.
