Choir Director Indicted For Soliciting Sex, Pictures From Students

A Franklin County Grand Jury indicted the former choir director at St. Francis DeSales High School.

Zachary R. Ruppel, 27, is facing 13 counts which include six counts of Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor, one count Compelling Prostitution, one count of Importuning, one count of Disseminating Matter Harmful to Juveniles and four counts Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor.

The Franklin County Prosecutor alleges that Ruppel solicited a sex act and nude pictures from several students between February 2012 and July 2013. He is also accused of sending the nude pictures to another individual.

Rupple was also a staff volunteer at the All-Ohio Youth Choir.

“If convicted on these charges, Ruppel faces numerous years incarceration as well as registration as a sex offender,” said Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien in a news release.
