Central Ohio Man Posts Casey Anthony Video Diary
A Fayette County man told 10TV News on Thursday that he posted a video of Casey Anthony on the Internet.
Jon Briley said that he is the one that posted Casey Anthony’s video diary on YouTube. Anthony’s attorney said that the video was stolen, 10TV’s Justin Moss reported.
Anthony’s parents said that they feared the video would put her in harm’s way. She has been in hiding since she was acquitted of killing her daughter, Caylee, last summer.
After Anthony’s trial, Briley started a Facebook page that publicized his movement to keep Anthony from profiting from her fame, Moss reported.
“You’re not going to give her any money,” Briley said. “She ain’t going to make no money off it right now.”
Briley said that he did some digging on Wednesday when he learned of the video. He found it on a Web site that allowed him to download it for free, Moss reported.
“Quickly, I downloaded it into my laptop and when I downloaded it into the laptop I went to click on the link again and it was gone,” Briley said.
Briley then posted the video to YouTube. He said that he wanted to make sure the video was free, so that Anthony would not sell it.
“Well, you’d have to be an idiot to pay money when you can get it for free,” Briley said. “That’s why I put it up there.”
Briley said that he was not concerned about the consequences.
“You can’t be sued for something that, first, isn’t copyrighted,” Briley said. “You can’t be sued for something that’s already free on the Internet. I just found it.”
Anthony’s attorney was not available for comment.
