Deputies tracked down a man who escaped from the Highland County Jail.

Gerald Lee Fletcher escaped from the jail while on kitchen detail on Nov. 12.

Fletcher and another inmate, Robert Wayne Gibson, escaped from the jail while taking trash to the dumpster.

A tip led investigators to find Gibson a short time after the escape.

Authorities used GPS coordinates from a cell phone obtained by Fletcher to track the man down in Springfield. He was taken into custody and is awaiting extradition back to Highland County.

Fletcher was being held on a probation violation. He was originally charged for purchasing pseudophed in excess of the legal limit.

Escape charges against Gibson were pending.
