Zanesville city officials are now in clean-up mode after a partial building collapse in downtown.

Tonight, the city could be stuck paying a $500,000 demolition bill.

Our news partners at The Zanesville Times-Recorder report wildlife officials discovered the collapse this morning when they were called to a report of a hawk trapped inside the vacant building in the 600 block of Main St.

Police have closed two eastbound lanes of Main, and the sidewalk in front of the building as crews assess the damage.

City engineers say the goal is to demolish the building, without damaging neighboring structures.

They are in the process of contacting multiple companies for estimates and demolition plans.
