Buckeye Lake Explosion Remains A Mystery

Residents around Buckeye Lake reported hearing a huge blast Thursday night, but officials still have not found the cause.

It happened near the Village of Buckeye Lake around 9:15 p.m.

Officials said the blast could be felt for miles. Even police chief James Hanzey heard it.

Police have been searching the area near the Leisure Village mobile home park.

"This 'boom' - it was awful. It shook everything. It shook the whole house. Me and my husband got up, jumped out, ran outside to see it. But we couldn't see anything," said resident Tammy Dunlap.

Police believe the blast may have occurred in a wooded area just outside of the village.

Authorities said Thursday night that two vehicles with juveniles were seen leaving the area, but it was unclear if they were connected to the incident.
