Brian Golsby requests change of venue in Reagan Tokes murder trial

The man accused of kidnapping, raping and killing an Ohio State University student earlier this year has requested his trial be moved out of Franklin County.

According to court documents, Brian Golbsy is requesting the venue change to ensure he receives a 'fair trial before a jury untainted by pre-trial publicity.'

Investigators say on February 8, Golsby kidnapped Reagan Tokes as she left work at Bodega in the Short North.

They say he forced her into a car, made her withdraw cash from an ATM, then raped her and shot her.

Her body was found the next day at Scioto Grove Metro Park in Grove City.

Investigators say DNA from a cigarette butt in Reagan's car led them to Golsby and that GPS data from an ankle monitor plotted his location during the attack.

In the court filing, they state that Franklin County has been so saturated with the alleged facts underlying this case that it is impossible for Golsby to receive a fair trial before a jury here in our area.

"As a result of this extensive publicity, Mr. Golsby believes that he will not receive a trial by an impartial jury in Franklin County, and therefore asks this court to grant his request to change the venue."

They are asking the court to grant the instant motion and change the venue to a county not so saturated with the details of this case.
