The Columbus Blue Jackets added free agent forward Nathan Horton to the team on Friday.

The Blue Jackets announced that they had signed Horton to a seven-year contract. The terms of the contract were not released.

Horton spent the last three seasons playing for the Boston Bruins.

"Nathan Horton was the player we identified as a perfect fit for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and we are very happy to welcome Nathan and his family to our organization," said General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen in a news release.

Horton, 28, has scored 198 goals and had 204 assists over his career. He has a +57 rating in 591 games with the Bruins and the Florida Panthers.

"I am very excited and proud to be a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. This is a team on the rise with great players, and I'm looking forward to being a part of it," said Horton.

Horton is a native of Welland, Ontario, and made his NHL debut as an 18 year old in 2003.
