Blue Jackets Hire New Scouts

The Columbus Blue Jackets have hired Ville Siren as head amateur scout and Josef Boumedienne as a European scout.
The hirings were announced Monday by general manager Jarmo Kekalainen.
Siren, who played for Pittsburgh and Minnesota in 290 career NHL games from 1985-90, spent nine years as a member of the St. Louis Blues scouting staff, where he worked with Kekalainen.
Boumedienne, a native of Stockholm who played in 47 NHL games, also played in Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and Russia during a 17-year career.
The Blue Jackets signed defenseman Frederic St. Denis and forward Jack Skille to one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contracts over the weekend.
