Authorities Investigating Possible Explosion In Northeast Columbus

Emergency responders were on the scene of a garage fire late Saturday night in the South Linden neighborhood.

Several people in the area reported that they heard what sounded like an explosion around 10 p.m.

The fire department was dispatched to 2501 Parkwood Ave. to fight a fire in a garage there. Flames destroyed the structure.

Both the house and the garage were vacant, according to authorities. Neighbors said they had seen people squatting on the property in the past.

A fire official told 10TV News that there were signs of a potential blast, including doors and windows blown out of the garage.

Investigators were looking for any signs of chemicals on the scene Saturday night.
