Analysts Predict Good Year For Retailers
The National Retail Federation estimates November and December sales will increase more than 4 percent over last year.
The increase is not quite as much as last year’s results, when retailers saw a jump of more than 5 percent.
Central Ohio shoppers were eager at the stores on Black Friday, though.
Shopper Emily Lawson of Wilmington said that she was out on Friday to get the deep discounts some stores promised.
“You get the most bang for your buck,” Lawson said.
She said that was important to her and her husband – and their four children.
The couple also “adopted” a single mother and her five children for Christmas.
Consumers said that the nation’s fiscal crisis was something to keep in mind, but the feelings of being out with family – and getting a good deal – was what had them out on Friday.
“We wanted to save a lot,” said Brooke Hook of Marion. “This was originally $130, and I got it for $25.”
