A man is charged with assault on a police officer for allegedly striking an officer's vehicle during his arrest.

Court documents stated that Columbus police were making a narcotics buy/bust with Stefan R. Gammons at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, when officers closed in to make an arrest.

Det. Michael Chapman, who was driving an unmarked cruiser, pulled up to assist.

Gammons then allegedly put his vehicle in drive and rammed the detective's vehicle multiple times.

Gammons was eventually taken into custody, and Chapman was uninjured in the crash.

He was held on $10,000 bond on Wednesday.
