All But 9 Members Of Ohio National Guard To Return To Work

Nearly 1,800 members of the Ohio National Guard have been recalled during the government shutdown.

Ohio National Guard officials said that of the 1,800 people furloughed, all but nine have been recalled.

The Columbus Dispatch reported that mechanics, pilots and administrative staff members were furloughed because of the shutdown, which started Oct. 1.

The reason that the workers were recalled was not immediately given.

Since the government shutdown, drills have been canceled, and many Army helicopters have been grounded since the shutdown, which is now in day seven.

James A. Sims II, the communications director for the Ohio National Guard, said that though the shutdown has had an impact on their operations, the department will be able to respond if needed to support the federal warflight mission.
