An Albanian living in Central Ohio, and getting ready to become a U.S. citizen, is facing murder charges.

Altin Hasani (AKA Altin Hasni) was arrested at a Columbus residence on Monday.

The 40-year-old Hasani was arrested after a two-year probe on the request of the government of Albania.

Officials say Hasani was convicted in Albania of a 1990 fatal stabbing in a cafeteria. He was sentenced in absentia to 20 years imprisonment in 1999.

Members of multiple law enforcement agencies were involved with the U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team that made the arrest.
