Bexley elementary students who have been lobbying in favor of a state artifact for years are reaching their goal.

The Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate have both approved a bill that would make the Adena Pipe Ohio's official state artifact.

Students from The Columbus School for Girls have been working toward this goal for years, and members of the fourth-grade class were in attendance at the statehouse yesterday when house members voted.

Archaeologist and historian William Corless Mills found the Adena Pipe in the Adena Mound in Chillicothe back in 1901.

It is now in the Ohio Historical Society's collection.
