84-Year-Old Driver Of Vehicle That Crashed In Fayette County Field Dies

A man died from his injuries sustained in a crash that killed his wife on Friday.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday that 84-year-old Edward Winkler of Howard, Ohio, died on Sunday after crashing late Friday.

The crash occurred on state Route 35 after he failed to stop at an intersection.

The vehicle traveled across both the east and westbound lanes before going off the roadway and hitting an embankment.

The vehicle went airborne over a fence and into a field before it caught on fire.

Winkler’s wife, 86-year-old Ruth Winkler, was pronounced dead at the scene.
