2 Arrested After Shots Fired Near School Bus Stop

Two men were behind bars on Monday after allegedly firing shots near a bus stop and running from the scene.

Marion police said that they responded to a report of shots fired in the 320 block of Owens Street at about 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 30.

Police said that they found evidence of multiple shots being fired at the scene.

Witnesses told police that they saw two men running from the area into an apartment complex.

Police arrested 31-year-old Walter Thomas and 24-year-old RaShawn Thomas inside of the Courtyard Apartment complex.

The two were charged with having weapons under disability. Four firearms were seized from the scene, police said.

The two men were behind held at the Multi-County Correction Center.

Police said that the shooting took place just before children were dropped off in the neighborhood at a school bus stop.

The incident remained under investigation.
