An effort to try a 15-year-old Columbus boy as an adult following a deadly shooting is now in motion.

Tayon Dunson made his first appearance in juvenile court Thursday morning as prosecutors served the final motion to his mother who sat beside him.

Dunson is facing one count of murder in the death of a 17-year-old  Shevona Whitehead earlier this week in east Columbus.

The murder charge comes after Whitehead was shot and killed inside a home on South Champion Avenue Tuesday evening.   Dunson claims the shooting was accidental.

It was revealed in court that Dunson will also face a burglary charge stemming from a separate incident that occurred last week.
