A 13-year-old girl was hurt after driving and crashing a car.

Sgt. Brandon Spalding of the Ohio State Highway Patrol told the Marion Star that Samantha Wintz, 13, of Caledonia, was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger north on Lyons Road near Linn Hipsher Road Tuesday afternoon when she went off the right side of the road, over-corrected and hit a ditch.

The car rolled multiple times before coming to a complete stop.

He said Wintz was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered unknown injuries from the crash.

A 14-year-old, Brittany Brodman, of Caledonia, was a passenger in the car and suffered minor injuries.

Wintz was reportedly unconscious at the scene, but later regained consciousness and gave a report to officers, the paper reported.

Wintz was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by helicopter.

Spalding said the two girls were not given permission to drive the vehicle.

No charges have been filed and the crash is still under investigation, according to the Star.
