One person is hospitalized after a drive-by shooting in east Columbus.

Police said one person was shot multiple times in the 1000 block of Seymour Avenue at around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The person who was shot was taken to Grant Medical Center after being shot three times in the leg, according to Columbus Police. They said he's expected to survive.

Police said the shooting was unrelated to a deadly shooting nearby on Stoddart Avenue.

Resident Lonnie Suber said the person shot on Seymour Avenue was his cousin and said violence in the area has been increasing.

"The starting of this summer is getting to be pretty bad in this area right here," he said.

"They had cleaned it up a while back because it mainly came from Livingston up there and they cleaned up Livingston pretty good. But it seemed like then it came right back." Suber said.

Police said a maroon van was seen leaving the area after the shooting.
