A crash involving a car and a semi killed one person Friday afternoon in Union County.

Authorities said the crash occurred on state Route 31 north of Marysville just after noon.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials said that the driver of the SUV lost control, traveled left of center and was struck by the semi.

The road was closed in both directions at Miller Rd. while emergency crews worked at the scene. The road reopened at about 3 p.m.

Authorities did not immediately release the name of the person killed because family members were being notified.

They did say the person who was killed was a 32-year-old man.

The driver of the semi, identified as Gary Saint-Amand, 34, of Georgia, was taken to Union County Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
