1 Arrested In Connection With UDF Shooting

One person is arrested, and police are searching for one other after a man was punched and then shot at a west Columbus gas station.

According to court documents, 19-year-old Justin T. Blakey and 20-year-old Deonte K. Thomas approached 40-year-old Corey Wilson, who was pumping gas at the UDF, located at 1043 W. Broad St., on Nov. 30.

Thomas allegedly showed Wilson his gun and demanded money. Blakey then struck punched Wilson in the head, court documents stated.

Thomas then allegedly shot Wilson one time on the left side of his body. The two men then ran to a waiting vehicle, according to court documents.

Blakey was arrested early Thursday morning and faces an aggravated robbery charge.

A warrant for aggravated robbery was issued for Thomas, and police were still searching for him.

Wilson was hospitalized at Mount Carmel West Hospital immediately after the shooting. According to court documents, Wilson does not have feeling in his lower extremities.
