Sixteen fallen Ohio soldiers who died in battle over the last 13 months were honored in separate, consecutive, solemn ceremonies by state lawmakers and Gov. John Kasich today. First, families of 16 soldiers who had died since April 3, 2013 received the Ohio Military Medal of Distinction during a joint session of the Ohio General Assembly. Immediately following was the annual Governor’s Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony, held inside the Statehouse for 12 soldiers who had died since Memorial Day of last year.
